Hello everyone❤️
I hope you are okay and staying safe during this time😊 We have been in quarantine for weeks now and everyone is starting to get very fed up of all of the restrictions that are in place and not being able to see family, friends or do the things they would usually do day to day. I know for certain that I am so fed up with being inside at this point. Although I am fed up of staying inside, I am extremely grateful that I am healthy and safe and that everyone around me is healthy and safe too. Times are tough but we need to look at the bigger picture. By staying home we are saving lives, reducing the chances of spreading the virus and by doing that we are putting less pressure on our amazing healthcare workers who are out there everyday saving lives. I will never forget all they are doing for us, I am so unbelievably grateful. If you are a healthcare worker of any kind or an essential worker working in shops, offices, warehouses etc during this time you are truly amazing and everyone is so grateful for all you are doing❤️
In today's blog I am going to give you some ideas of things to do to help with the boredom and keep you productive and busy during this time😁
1) Watch Netflix series and movies: I have been doing this a lot during my time in quarantine, some suggestions I have for you to add to your list of things to watch are:
• Movies: The boy who harnessed the wind, Think like a man, About last night, Straight outta Compton, Imperial dreams, Boyz n the hood, Deuces, The intent movies, The perfect guy, The pursuit of happiness, A fall from Grace, All day and a night, Midnight sun,The boy next door, Beats, A stranger outside, Someone great, Blockers, Brain on fire and Brian banks.
• Series: Atypical, Ozark, Breaking bad, Prison break, Too hot to handle, Jane the virgin, Raising Dion, Rhythm and flow, Suits, Sex education, On my block, How to get away with murder, The stranger, Gossip girl, When they see us, Pretty little liars, Top boy, Love is blind, Power, Dead to me, Good girls, Vampire diaries followed by the Originals and YOU.
2) Watch Disney plus: If you don't have Disney plus, you're missing out. I have been watching all of my favourite shows from back in the day. So far I have watched That's so Raven, Raven's home, The suite life of Zack and Cody and The suite life on deck. I have also watched lots of movies I enjoyed when I was younger such as The game plan, The Lizzie McGuire movie and all of the Lilo and Stitch movies since they are my favourite. There is so much on there to watch, you will not regret getting it.
3) Orgainse your bedroom: Clean your room, declutter, paint your room, change your room around or sort out your wardrobe and your drawers.
4) Make new playlists and find new music on Spotify: I have been adding new songs to my playlist and listening to new music during this time. I have lots of playlists on my Spotify, my username is munnellyshannon.
Also another playlist I have been loving is Dansie's Quarantine Vibe which is a playlist made by my friend Geadel who is a DJ. His Spotify is "Geadel Dansie" have a look at his other playlists too, they're really good.
5) Start a Youtube channel, blog or Instagram page: If you have always wanted to start a Youtube channel, blog or Instagram page now is the perfect time. I know a lot of people who would be so good at this. Some people are nervous about starting but there is no need to be, you will do great. I have always wanted to start a blog and during this time I have had loads of time to put my effort into it.
Some blogs I have been enjoying are ones by Benie Lomboto which you can find on her Instagram @benielomboto_ and blogs by Mikaela O'Connor which you can see on her Instagram @_mikaelasblogs_.
6) Read a book: There are so many books on Amazon that you can order and it will take about a week for them to come. I am currently reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne which is amazing, I wish I had read it sooner. Its a book on the law of attraction and I would 110% recommend it.
7) Practice your religion: During this time I have been reading the Bible a lot and praying too. Being close to God gives me a sense of peace and makes me feel more at ease. Having faith has been a big part of helping me get through this time and many other hard times in my life.
8) Colour, paint or draw: Anyone who knows me or follows me on any of my social media accounts knows that I love colouring. You can order different types of colouring books and pens on Amazon.
9) Exercise: Do home workouts, go for walks or go for a run.
10) Learn or practice an instrument: I taught myself how to play the piano a couple of years ago by watching Youtube videos. I have not played it in a while but I will be starting to play again and practicing more now that I have lots of free time.
11) Cooking and baking: This is something I have been loving during quarantine, I have been cooking and baking almost every day. You can find loads of recipes online for anything you want to make. I also have tutorials on my Instagram page of food I have been making. I made a homemade Nandos with my sister Ceara which was amazing😍 the tutorial is also up on my Instagram page which is attached in the top left corner of my blog.
12) Do an online course: There are so many free courses online to do. I have always wanted to learn how to do sign language which I will be starting to do soon.
13) Learn a new language: Learn a new language so that when we are allowed to travel again, you will be well prepared. There are a lot of apps to help you learn new languages. I would recommend Duolingo which is a free app.
14) Meditate: This will really help you to relax. It is something I would strongly recommend for people who suffer with anxiety as it helps to calm you down. There are many Youtube videos you can watch or there is an app that is very good called Headspace which is free on the app store.
15) Make a bucket list: Make a bucket list of all the things you want to do once quarantine is over. For example - all the places you want to go eat, who you want to see, where you want to travel too etc.
16) Journaling: This is a really good way to express your feelings and thoughts. If you are someone who is struggling a lot with the current situation I would recommend that you try this, it really helps.
17) Call your family and friends: Whether its a phone call or a video call, reach out to your family and friends and keep in touch. If you are looking to do group video calls with friends and family "Zoom" is very good.
18) Write some letters to yourself to read in a years time: Write some letters talking about what is going on in the world today, what you've been doing to keep busy, how you're feeling etc and put them in a safe place so that in a years time, you can open them and see how far you have come and how things have changed.
19) Write down your goals and things you want to accomplish in your life: This is a great way to motivate you and give you things to look forward to. Whether it be career related, something you wish to study, passing your driving test, travels you want to go on etc write it all down.
20) Play board games, jigsaw puzzles or play cards with your family.
21) Do some DIY projects: Find old things around your house and make them into something new.
22) Play games on the Xbox or Playstation.
23) Watch videos on Youtube: I really enjoy watching videos by Trent Shelton. He is so inspirational I would recommend his videos. I enjoy videos by James Charles, Jordan Lipscombe, Tarek Ali and Mariam Musa.
24) Practice doing your makeup and trying new hairstyles.
25) Online shopping: Most of us have been doing this a lot lately. Got to look fire once all of this is over😏😂
26) Watch videos on Tik tok or make Tik tok videos.
27) Scrapbooking: Make a scrapbook with pictures of the most important times in your life and the times that made you the most happy. Add pictures of family and friends.
28) Have a quiz night: Do a quiz night with family and friends.
29) Listen to podcasts: I love "Reality Check" which is a podcast by Amber, Anna and Yewande from Season 5 of Love Island.
30) Stay Positive!🤗
The last thing to do that I have listed is by far the most important. It is very hard to stay positive during hard times but even on the darkest days there will always be a glimpse of light and positivity. It is perfectly normal to feel down sometimes but just know that there are always brighter times ahead and things will get better. Soon life will get back to normal and things will start to improve. We just have to take it day by day, one step at a time.
If anyone of you are ever struggling during these times or in general, you can always message me and I will be there to talk to you and listen. We are all in this together and you are never alone❤️
I hope this list is helpful to you and you enjoy some of the suggestions listed😀
Stay home, stay safe, have faith and stay positive🤗
Much Love,
Shannon💛
